Wellness Tip #37: Vacation Planning for Health

Be heart led rather than head led when planning your next vacation.

Do you have a dream vacation spot or activity? Is there some place you have always wanted to visit or some thing you have always wanted to do or try? Let your deepest yearnings and passions guide you and influence your choices and activities. Let your “down time” fill you up physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Do some internet research or call your travel agent to get more information. You might find your dreams are not as far away as you once thought.

Wellness Tip #83: Till Death Do You Part

Renew your vows to your biggest long-term goal.

Is there a goal you have been dreaming of and striving for? Evaluate your success to date in achieving it. What milestones have you reached thus far and what remains? What in your life will change once you have achieved it?

Reconnect to the spirit, passion and excitement of your biggest goal and vow to yourself (and others) that you will reach it.

Wellness Tip #123: The Wisdom of a Child

Recently, my 11-year-old step-daughter Olivia asked me if we could watch a show on the computer before bed. I said yes, but we couldn’t start until I finished my writing. Out of curiosity, I asked her if she had a Wellness Tip to share. She paused for a moment, looked out the window and this is what she said, nearly word for word…

“When you look at yourself in the mirror today, what do you see? Do you see or feel joy, sadness, or any other emotion? Your reflection gives you an opportunity to connect with yourself, to connect with your feelings and hear what you have to say about yourself [she was pacing at this point]. Replace bad things you say about your appearance with what you like about yourself. Better yet, when you are in front of the mirror, think of something good or nice you did for someone else, like the old lady down the street that you helped or something like that.”

I was dumbfounded by her response. When I asked her why we should think of something nice we did for someone else she said, “Because if you are feeling bad, it helps to think about something that makes you feel happy.”

When I praised her for what she came up with, “That’s brilliant Liv!”, she responded with, “Yeah…I know.” [We are working on humility]

Thanks sweetie, well said.
