New Year Greetings to My Fellow Counsellors

Posted by: Priya Senroy on December 22, 2011 2:37 pm

I hope 2011 was rewarding and challenging for many of you as it was for me!!!!

So as I reflect back  on 2011 and look forward  to 2012 at the same time, I have decided that I would like to bring in a piece of the world every month to this blog space!!!!

So what does that exactly mean???

Well, I am going to explore 12 countries that are doing some phenomenal work in Creative Arts Therapy-be in movement, drama, dance, or bibliotherapy. I will share with you either an association or an individual or an organization who have pioneered, inspired and  perhaps even shaped the practice-some  of the individuals are counsellors and others are therapist-some are my peers while some are mentors. Some are barefoot practitioners with no formal knowledge of the medium, while others have mastered them in all their pockets!!!!!

This journey thought the countries is extremely personal to me, as both my personal and professional work has been greatly influenced by these individuals, organizations and even the countries themselves.

So without further ado, my first sharing is from India-my country of origin.

This is about  Dr. Ambika Kameshwar, -my mentor who got me interested in Dance and Movement Therapy in Chennai, India about 19 years ago. She has an amazing organization called RASA and primarily works in the area of Disability.

I can write zillions of words about her but am posting her website instead so that you can have a look at what she does and if you are ever in India and in Chennai specially, go visit her an tell her how you heard about her….

I hope you will be impressed with her as I was and still am 19 years later…

Ladies and Gentleman—Dr. Ambika Kameshwar and RASA!!!!!

  1. Dear Priya Senroy

Good morning, I wanted to inform you that your posting’s url (http://www.rasaindia.org/rasa/theatre_home.htm) is not working or at least is inaccessible. I thought you might want to check the posting’s url. I also tried the url’s specific address ( http://www.rasaindia.org/ ) and found it inaccessible.

May you have a truly blessed day.

    Warm Regards,

    Dr. Asa Don Brown
