In order to become certified with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, you must hold a graduate degree in counselling or a related professional field from a regionally accredited institution in the United States and meet the CCPA’s certification criteria.
Regional accreditation is carried out by seven organizations that cover different geographic regions of the country. The seven regional accrediting bodies are:
- Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Higher Education (MSA/CHE)
- New England Association of Schools and Colleges Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NEASC-CIHE)
- North Central Association of Colleges and Schools The Higher Learning Commission
- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges
- WASC Senior College and University Commission
- The Higher Learning Commission
