Honouring Elder Denise McCuaig – 2025 Professional Champion Award
At our 2025 National Conference, Elder Denise McCuaig was recognized with the Professional Champion Award. This award celebrates individuals who have advanced mental health and well-being while championing the counselling and psychotherapy profession in Canada.
A proud Métis woman and respected Elder, Denise McCuaig has shaped culturally safe mental health services and Indigenous health equity across Canada. Her leadership inspires inclusive, culturally grounded care for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.

Established in 1965, CCPA is the national bilingual association representing the collective voice of over 16,000 professional counsellors and psychotherapists in Canada.
