Ce que l'ACCP signifie pour moi:
To me, the CCPA encompasses support (for the profession and for professionals) and information for Canadian counsellors. In addition, the CCPA provides for professional development opportunities through Webinars, and promotion of the counselling profession.
Although I have only been affiliated with CCPA for a short time, I have already been afforded many invaluable experiences through involvement with the Nova Scotia Association of Counselling Therapists and the Quebec Counselling Association. I was excited to receive the CCPA Student Travel Award this past spring and attend the CCPA conference ‘What's on the Horizon' in Prince Edward Island. I look forward to more great experiences with CCPA, including the upcoming conference in Ottawa.
I became a member of CCPA in 1987 after completing my M.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling at UNB. From the beginning, I realized the benefits of being part of a national organization of professionals. The camaraderie and support offered by my fellow members over the years have made being part of this organization an integral part of my professional and personal life. Friendships formed in my earlier years remain to this day. My years on the Board of Directors and the Executive allowed me to provide my own input into shaping where CCPA is today. To this day, I regard CCPA as my professional link and source for exceptional professional development.
I have belonged to our organization since the day I graduated as a counsellor and I encourage every counsellor to be part of this wonderful association. I have met so many good friends and mentors through CCPA and have been privileged to serve on several committees which have been a terrific learning experience and which allowed me to meet counsellors from across Canada.
CCPA is my network to access professionals, my reference for ethical guidelines, and a place for quality professional development. It is where I identify with the profession of counselling and feel pride for being a counsellor.

CCPA Board Meeting Being involved with the CCPA allows me to get involved with my school, my community and stay connected to the counselling world. It exposes me to conferences, awards and allows me to see what job opportunities are available. I share this information with other students in my program and keep them connected with what’s happening in the CCPA.
