Description:

This one-day workshop is designed to integrate foundational concepts and competencies in clinical supervision. Informed supervision emphasizes thoughtful intentionality and is designed to accommodate both a framework structure and responsive flexibility. Workshop participants will engage in reflective discussion and practice as they articulate a philosophy of change in counselling and supervision, demonstrate their preferred supervision model, anticipate ethical and legal considerations, contemplate cultural and other diversity issues, and consider the design and communication of a risk management plan for preventing or responding to supervisory challenges.

Presenter Biography:

Beth Robinson is a Counsellor Educator in Acadia University’s Master of Education in Counselling program. She also is the Nova Scotia Director for CCPA. Beth holds an MEd (Educational Psychology and Measurement) from Mount Saint Vincent University, MEd (Counselling) from Acadia University, Certificate in Negotiation and Conflict Management from Dalhousie University, and PhD in Counseling Psychology from West Virginia University. She is a Registered Psychologist, Registered Counselling Therapist, and Canadian Certified Counsellor. Beth has a longstanding interest in clinical supervision from both didactic and practice perspectives and has been fortunate to offer supervision to graduate students in Counselling, Psychology, and Social Work.
