George Dunne
British Columbia

What CCPA means to me:

What I find helpful about CCPA is its national perspective on counselling and psychotherapy. For me, membership opens doors, helps me learn best practices and gives me insight into other provincial issues thereby helping me understand how provinces support the counselling field locally and how local successes play out in national issues. Membership to CCPA is one way of keeping me informed on topics such as ethics, research, counselling strategies, marketing and the opportunity to meet others through conferences and the helpful membership directory.

Kris Magnusson
British Columbia

What CCPA means to me:

I consider CCPA to be the most important body for professional counselling practice in Canada. It provides a forum for critical dialogue on the nature and scope of counselling practice, and for the exchange of ideas and practices to improve the profession.  Over the years, it has also been a very important part of my personal space; some of my dearest friends are those I have met over the years through CCA/CCPA.  In particular, it has been a wonderful way to develop friendships and professional associations outside of the traditional academic circles. I think that is one of the things that makes the CCPA so unique and so special; it is a place that brings a wide range of counsellors, counselling psychologists, and academics together in an egalitarian community.  It is professionally rewarding, and a lot of fun!

David Paterson

What CCPA means to me:

I have a long association with CCPA (CCA, CGCA), and have been acquainted with many of the builders.  Canada has a proud tradition of counselling and psychotherapy.  CCA has been an important national glue underpinning this development.  It is striking in both its humility and its importance.
