The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and its' Chapters recognize the professional contributions of Canadians in the field of counselling by offering a number of different awards including:

In support of Graduate Student research, Marsh, the CCPA Professional Liability Insurance Broker of Choice, has provided two $500 awards to student members demonstrating academic excellence.

1. The CCPA Honorary Life Membership may be awarded to members who have made a considerable contribution to the aims and objectives of CCPA.
2. The CCPA Professional Contribution Award may be awarded to a member in recognition of outstanding professional contribution to Counselling in Canada.
3. The Lorne Flavelle Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service may be awarded to a long-serving member in recognition of outstanding volunteer service to CCPA.
4. The Chris Campbell Memorial Study Grant (click here for more information)
5. The Dr. Lynda Younghusband Counselling Award has been established by Dr. Younghusband to promote the counselling profession and to improve access for students to the annual Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) conference. This award will be given to either a full-time or part-time graduate student enrolled in the Master of Education (Counselling Psychology) programme at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and who is attending the national CCPA conference to present a scholarly paper or poster. The recipient must meet the academic requirements for an award. It will be awarded by the Dean of Graduate Studies upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Education. 6. The Vance Peavy Memorial Award (click here for more information)
The R. Vance Peavy Memorial Fund was established at the request of his family to continue Vance's legacy of innovation and scholarship in career counselling research, writing and practice. The Memorial Fund has been used to ensure that Vance’s publications, published and unpublished, remain accessible, and his SocioDynamic constructivist approaches continue to be available. A remainder of the fund will be used to establish a Vance Peavy Award for Leadership in Career Counselling. The award will be presented annually at the CCPA conference.
The Career Development Chapter offers a bursary of $300 toward attending the following national conferences: the CCPA Annual Conference, CANNEXUS or NATCON.
The winner will be expected to provide a summary of their presentation for inclusion in a Chapter Communiqué and/or to present their paper at the annual CD meeting during the CCPA conference.

2. Doctoral Student Dissemination Award - Counsellor Educator Chapter
Purpose
The CE Chapter wishes to encourage CCPA members who are pursuing doctoral studies to consider a career as a counsellor educator. The CE Chapter Doctoral Student Dissemination Award is intended to assist these members achieve this goal. The award provides financial assistance to doctoral students travelling to the CCPA annual conference to present a conference paper.
Eligibility
Candidates must be CCPA members (regular or student) in good standing and enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited university. Candidates must also have a conference paper accepted for presentation at the either the annual CCPA conference.

The award is valued at $500. The award is presented to the winning candidate at the annual CE Chapter meeting held in conjunction with the annual CCPA conference.
A minimum of one award is given annually. A second award may be made if funds are available.

3. Bev Abbey Service Award - BC Chapter
In 2009, the BC Chapter of CCPA established the Bev Abbey Service Award to recognize and remember the late Bev Abbey, and to honour her generosity, selflessness, and many contributions to CCPA. The Bev Abbey Service Award is given annually to a BC graduate student in counselling psychology.
